Venuecard is a
security card for venue goers, allowing the venue to quickly
screen each patron for details of previous antisocial
behaviour at theirs or other venues Australia wide
How Does Venuecard Work?
Patrons enter the venue and produce their
Venuecard.
The Venuecard is scanned, an approval message
is shown on the screen and the patron is allowed into
the venue.
If the scanner shows a refusal message
the patron is stopped from entering the venue. |

|
Refused
When a patron is ejected from the venue
or is apprehended near the venue for antisocial behaviour,
the security staff will request the patron’s Venuecard
for scanning, if they refuse, the security staff need
only to point the scanner to where they expect the card
to be (top shirt pocket, back trouser pocket or hand
bag) and the scanner will retain the card holder’s
number.
The RFID scanner can detect the card/tag
from up to one metre away.
|
|
Penalties
The staff member in consultation with the
Duty Manager choose an appropriate penalty and within
seconds, the RFID scanner sends a message to the Venuecard
Central Database.
The offender’s number and ban time
is subsequently sent to all RFID scanners Australia wide
so that the offender cannot be admitted into any other
Venuecard venue for the nominated period. |
|
|
Taxi's
If the local cab company is part of the
program, patrons can simply quote their Venuecard number
when calling a cab and the drivers will be more willing
to pick them up from the venue. If they commit an offence
in the cab, the cab company can contact Venuecard and
report any incident. |
 |
Emergency Info
If a patron collapses in a venue and has
no friends around them the staff can scan their Venuecard
and request, details of “next of kin”, medical
conditions, allergies etc. which will be transmitted to
the scanner within minutes.

- Venue Safe Australia is committed to keeping your personal
information private.
- The information you provide when applying for a Venuecard
will be received and kept in the most secure environment
possible and only used when sending out the Venuecard or
contacting you for renewal.
- The cards will only show a photograph of the patron and
their Venuecard number. The Venuecard provides the Venues
and security personel with less personal information than
a drivers licence or age identification card.
- When a patron’s card is scanned, the security/venue
staff will only see whether the patron is accepted or denied
entry.
- The scanning device will firstly identify that it is
a Venuecard card and then check whether the patron’s
number matched any number on the list of banned patrons.
No other information about the banned patron is on the card
or scanner, including what they were banned for and the
duration of their ban.
- The Emergency Info facility is optional and will only
be provided to the venue scanner once the security and management
staff have consulted; an investigation of the Emergency
Info request will be conducted by Venue Safe Australia on
the next business day.
Appeals to Ban
- Should a patron wish to appeal a ban they need to contact
Venue Safe Australia and make a request.
- An investigation will be conducted and the venue will
be required to provide CCTV footage as well as security
and staff evidence.
- If Venue Safe Australia deems that the ban was unjust
we will overturn or amend the ban.
- The suspected banned patron will have to pay an initial
investigation fee which will be refunded if the ban is overturned.

keeping late night venues safe ... venuecard
Venuecard is a program to reduce antisocial behaviour in late
night trading venues, pubs, hotels,
taverns, clubs, night clubs and bars. It endeavours to reduce the amount of
assaults, attacks and
violence from drunk and drug effected patrons. When implemented it will enforce
bans on errant patrons
and once these patrons are not at the venues it will reduce the need for excessive
security,
midnight lock outs and cabs not servicing venues. Patrons, venues, businesses,
residents and
the police will benefit from this program.
Conditions of Venuecard subject to change.
